Vision

Satya Yoga Cooperative’s vision: to be a healing force by and for POC, using yoga as a tool for both personal liberation and social transformation.

Mission

  • To be a network of conscious yoga teachers of color

  • To model and teach a liberation oriented yoga that acknowledges systems that fracture wholeness.

  • To integrate the innovation and wisdom of People of Color

  • To offer economically accessible yoga classes, events and educational materials

  • To model a successful POC owned people-focused enterprise.

Guiding Principles:

  •  Dharma (our guiding principles, philosophy):  we believe that as POC, our liberation is connected to each other’s liberation and our liberation is connected to the liberation of the planet.

  • Artha (abundance):  we are committed to providing economically accessible yoga offerings while cultivating the prosperity, stability, growth, and wellness of our members.

  • Kama (desires/passions): we experience unity, community, intimacy, and connection, fulfillment, sustenance, learning, and growth, brave space, truth, and ever evolving joy, lightheartedness, and celebration while seeding peace and liberation everywhere.

  • Moksha (liberation): we practice yoga to experience personal and social transformation.  We decolonize the practice of yoga by honoring the cultural and spiritual context of yoga and of all People of Color.  We provide welcoming space where we can bring our whole selves to our practice. We liberate ourselves by promoting cooperative, people-centered economics.
